Date night was planned last night. A night of dancing at the usual place for Jacqie & Taylor. But as it seems to go with date nights....things changed. Usually it's a problem with finding a sitter, or something inexpensive to do. This time seemed to be so smooth....until Friday afternoon when word was that the dance was post-oned to the next week! With a sitter still arranged plans changed. So instead it was a visit to the Northmoor Observatory just a couple miles away. And what a nice treat!
Jacqie & Taylor arrived just before dusk and got to see the scope and dome getting opened up and ready for the night. Then before it really got dark, Jupiter was visable through the patchy clouds so the volunteer astronomers lined up the telescope. Jupiter, 3 of its moons and the gas rings were visible. And on top of this some other things were learned. There are now only 8 plantets, Pluto has been demoted. Also out of the 8 only the first 4 are "rock" planets and the other 4 are just gas masses.
What an educational date night!
