St. Louis Zoo

As mentioned, Bunca & A Jennie flew in and out of St. Louis, so to help get Abie and Benjamin a break from the car they visited the zoo. The zoo is free, but $10 parking. However the first visit (pick-up) down there Jacqie didn't think $10 was worth one hour. So she parked across the freeway and walked over - may sound trecherous, but there's a bridge and it takes you right to the parking lot.

Once Jacqie could see that there would be time for the stop she prepped Abie with getting to go. Elephants and monkeys were the two she got excited about. Figures they're not that close to each other. So the elephants were the destination, at least both were close to the South entrance. Along the way they got to see some big fish up close in the hippo tank that Benjamin loved! And the elephants were a big hit for Abie. She couldn't stop talking about them. The baby and mama were her favorite. That night she even told (dad as clearly as she could) that she saw elephants and a baby and a mama. However no pictures because Jacqie left the camera in the car!

The second stop at the zoo (drop-off) was going to be only 45 min. This time Jacqie decided the extra time saved in walking across the freeway and having saved last week that she'd up for the parking. She pulled up to the booth and then realized she'd need cash....before she could scramble for it the man said it was on him! Whoo-hoo! This time the monkey's were first on the list, however Abie insisted the elephants were visited again too. Here are some photos of what they fit in as Jacqie pushed up all the hills and tried not to look like she was racing through!

Watching the seals swim around

Can you spot this animal?
Of course the monkey turned just before this one was snapped, he and Benjamin were nearly face to face at the glass!Stubborn rhino - waited for him to turn....just after the picture was taken

Hippos doing their swim by's - about 3 of them making passes

Elephants! Jacqie really was there

Mama & her baby

finally! Both asleep on the drive home....only lasted for about 30 min of the 3 hour drive
